Evening primrose essential oil is made from the yellow flowers of a plant that, as its name implies, open at night and musk. The plant is native to North America and is rich in γ-linolenic acid (GLA ), which belongs to the omega-6 fatty acid family.
The plant Oenothera, as its scientific name implies, came to Europe in the 16th century. Although there are already 125 evening primroses around the world, in Greece – and Cyprus – we know more about Oenothera biennis. If we observe the scientific name, we see that the first term consists of the words wine and thera , while biennis is associated with the term two (bi…), the life cycle of the night flower, from vegetation to decay.
The night flower is an herbaceous plant, its height can reach 3 meters and its aroma is intoxicating like the aroma of lemon. The night flower, paradoxically, is an edible plant, while its roots are unusually delicious. The essential oil of the wine hunter results from the cold pressing of its yellow flowers, so the essential oil outside retains its properties, while at the same time its color has yellow and golden reflections.

Possible side effects
It is considered safe for most of us, however we should consult our doctor for possible long-term use.
Possible side effects are itching, sore throat and flatulence. Its use is also prohibited in people suffering from epilepsy, schizophrenia or taking phenothiazine. Rarely do recipients experience allergies, so it is best to take the minimum dosage.
Evening primrose essential oil is expensive and very sensitive to exogenous environmental factors. It oxidizes easily, so it is better to place it in dark containers and in places that do not have light. The use of supplements is a good choice, without a clear safe dosage.
In any case, use the minimum dose and if you notice any strange symptoms, contact your doctor.
